Ten Things to Consider When Selecting Rehabilitation Treatment Programs
The following are a number of typical questions to be addressed when seeking alcohol or drug rehab services:
1.WHAT LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION DOES THE TREATMENT CENTER HAVE?
What state or government licenses and credentials does the facility have? It is important to check the license to practice rehabilitation treatment. Every alcohol rehab center must have a license to conduct alcohol addiction treatment. This is one of the first things you must look for when checking their website
The second thing that you must look for is the accreditation. It is very important that the treatment center be accredited with a state or, even better, a federal organization for addiction treatment such as CARF.
2.WHAT TREATMENT PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED?
Does the alcohol rehab center offer a variety of residential and outpatient programs from which you can choose? A quality center will recommend a specific and comprehensive track of treatment that will address the unique needs of each client.
RESIDENTIAL CARE
Residential care, widely known to be the optimum treatment approach, offers short-term rehabilitation in a closed campus setting. Program elements should include education workshops, lectures, individual sessions, group and family therapy, drug and alcohol instruction, spiritual counseling and relaxation and recreational activities. After graduating from a program, regular After-Care meetings are sometimes offered without charge to alumni. The After Care program typically consists of a support group consisting of training and workshops that emphasize the challenges of maintaining sobriety post-treatment
3.WHAT IS THE ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION PROCESS?
A “biological/psychological/social assessment” is typically conducted when a patient enters a treatment center. The findings determine the client's individualized treatment plan. They will be assigned a case manager counselor will take the time to evaluate the client in order to determine which treatments are appropriate for you and then will monitor the plan throughout the duration of their treatment.
4.IS MEDICAL SUPPORT OFFERED IN THE PROGRAM?
A thorough assessment of the client’s needs must be conducted for the efficiency of treatment and the safety of the individual. Many quality treatment programs address dual disorders, where the addiction is accompanied by a physiological or psychiatric condition. Their role is primarily to stabilize their disorder rather than treat it. Severe cases should be addressed in a hospital setting. Staff must include medical professionals and psychiatrists trained and certified in this unique field.
